The Yeoksam Global Village Center will host a Korean cooking class on Wednesday, January 11th to make tteokguk and makjeok.

Tteokguk is a hot rice cake soup which is traditionally eaten on lunar New Year’s Day. The dish is made with thinly sliced rice cake with a beef broth (guk in Korean). Traditionally, it is a must to eat tteokguk on New Year's Day because it is said that you will be one year older when you eat tteokguk and the coming year is full of good luck.

Makjeok is grilled pork marinated in soy sauce and soybean paste. It is a traditional food eaten during the Goguryeo dynasty and it is known as the origin of Bulgogi.
